Ranchi lacks good book stores: Readers
Ranchi: The state capital known for being a education hub, is, however, not a very favourite destination for book lovers who rue that the city lacks good book stores.

Many reading enthusiasts rued that if they want to read a rare book, they have to purchase it online because most book stores do not stock rare books that are not in high demand.
Sanjay Krishna, author of ‘Jharkhand Ke 50 Krantikari’, ‘Mahavir’, ‘Jharkhand Ke Meley’, said, "There are only a dozen book stores in Ranchi which stock most genres. However, there do not stock good literature. Therefore, we only have option to order online."
Owner of Gyandeep book store, Pradeep Kumar Burman, said, "Several individuals seek the online version to read. Since majority of book reviews are available online and the books too, can be read online, very few purchase books from stores.”
For the purpose of promoting languages, some stores only stock language-specific books. Some stores also allow people to sit and read book at the store. Proprietor of Bhasa Bookstore, Anshuman, said, "In an effort to promote languages, we only stock books in Hindi and tribal languages. Additionally, we have provided space for customers to read books at the store."
Owner of Book Zone, Vinod Poddar, said, “We have good collection of literature books."
