Mild to moderate showers give respite from heatwave
Jaipur: The mercury took a dip of almost 3°C across the state on Sunday as mild to moderate showers in 12 districts, including Jaipur, brought relief from scorching heat conditions. The showers, that followed strong winds and dust storms, were attributed to active western disturbances and anti-cyclonic circulation by the Jaipur Met office, which said that similar conditions will prevail in the state for the next 24 hours. People in Jaipur woke up to a comparatively pleasant morning with a minimum temperature of 24°C.
It was followed by a dust storm and mild showers in the afternoon. Many places in the city witnessed showers that lasted for almost half-an-hour, including areas adjoining Ajmer road, Sikar road, Tonk road, and parts of the Walled City. Till Saturday, most places in Rajasthan were recording maximum temperatures of or above 40°C. “A dip of almost 3°C on average was witnessed across the state on Sunday as a good amount of rainfall occurred at many places. The minimum temperature will dip further on Monday,” said an officer at the Jaipur Met office. Rainfall occurred in Dausa, Ajmer, Bharatpur, Alwar, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Karauli and Sawai Madhopur also, the Jaipur Met office said.
