Police discovers blood stained cloth, knife at gangster Atiq Ahmed’s demolished office, see photos
A knife was also found in the demolished office covered with blood stains.

The Prayagraj Police on Monday has discovered blood stains inside the premises of gangster turned politician Atiq Ahmed’s partially demolished Prayagraj office.
Stains of blood were found splashed at the stairs inside the office, also as per the reports some stains of blood were found a white piece of cloth which lied in a couch inside the office.

A knife was also found in the demolished office covered with blood stains.

As per reports, a police investigation in the matter of the found items with blood is underway.
Atiq Ahmed was a dreaded gangster who was shot dead at point blank range on April 15 along with his brother Ashraf Ahmed while they were being taken for a medical check-up inside a medical complex in Prayagraj.
Three assailants posing as media personnel, approached the gangster brothers who were in a police custody and fired several rounds at them which took down the lives of the Ahmed brothers.
Atiq and his brother Ashraf were the prime accused involved in the killing of Umesh Pal, the key witness of former BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case, 2005.
Soon after the incident of Umesh Pal murder, the administration in the Uttar Pradesh swung into its bulldozer action and demolished the residences, offices, and various other buildings that were attached to the gangster’s property.
Atiq’s son Asad ahmed, who was a key shooter in the Umesh Pal shootout case was gunned down in an encounter by the UP Special Task Force (STF) team on April 13, Asad was on a run since Umesh Pal murder and the UP Police along with the STF team were in regular action to nab Asad and his aides involved in the shootout.
The killings of Atiq and his brother Ashraf has questioned the law and order situation of the state.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar breaks silence over talks of Ajit Pawar joining BJP

Amid the high political buzz of National Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar joining ruling BJP in Maharashtra, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar has finally broken his silence over the matter.
The veteran politician has made a tough statement saying if someone is involved in forming a strategy and breaking away, they must be doing that but he said if he and his party leaders have to take a stand then they will be strong while taking any.
Pawar also denied speaking any further on the matter saying it is not right as they did not have had any such discussions on this.
It’s been almost more than a week since the speculations of Ajit Pawar along with over a dozen of his MLAs joining BJP, that has been all across media, a matter which has now again put forth the Maharashtra politics into circles.
As per reports, some MLAs supporting Ajit Pawar earlier hinted on this that they are ready to move forward with any decision that Pawar takes in the near future.

On Sunday, Senior Pawar’s daughter and LS MP Supriya Sule supported Ajit’s statement regarding his chief ministerial ambitions.
Sule said that there is nothing wrong about having a dream or ambition in politics and one saying openly about it.
Earlier during an interview when Ajit Pawar was asked that whether he looks himself as chief minister of Maharashtra in 2024, he replied saying not 2024, but he is ready for the post even now.
Sule, when was asked about the speculations of her brother joining BJP, she amused and replied that she is quite busy with the state’s development and rather than focusing on the agrarian crises and farmer issues which should be high on agenda, there are rumors about Ajit Pawar in the media.
Ajit Pawar is a senior leader of the NCP, he is also the nephew of Sharad Pawar, held the deputy chief minister post of Maharashtra four times and currently is the leader of opposition in the state legislative assembly.

A CCTV video has surfaced recently showing the men who shot Umesh Pal, entering the Bareilly jail in Uttar Pradesh to meet with Khalid Azim alias Ashraf Ahmed—the slain gangster who was shot dead last week along with his brother Atiq Ahmed.
The video which is purportedly from February 11, days before Umesh Pal was shot dead, shows all eight shooters entering the Bareilly jail for allegedly meeting Ashraf Ahmed and plan Pal’s murder. The purported meeting, reportedly went on for over 2 hours and 30 minutes and all eight men, who are accused of shooting Umesh Pal were present.
Reports said that Ashraf had applied for a meeting in the jail under the name of Mohammad Azhar and also used the Asad Ahmed’s Aadhaar card to have him enter the jail.

Atiq Ahmed and his brother Khalid Azeem alias Ashraf Ahmed were gunned down in front of the Uttar Pradesh police while they were on their way for a medical checkup at a hospital in Prayagraj last week.
In a mafia-style shooting, three gunmen, posing as journalists, shot and killed the Ahmad brothers on camera and later surrendered before the police.
Gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, had recently been convicted in the Umesh Pal kidnapping and murder case.
Earlier, Atiq’s 19-year-old son Asad Ahmad, was shot dead in an encounter by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police in Jhansi.
The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday announced that a three-member judicial commission will probe the gangster’s brazen killing.
The Umesh Pal case
Umesh Pal, then a zila panchayat member, had come forward as the prime witness in BSP MLA Raju Pal’s murder, who was killed on January 25, 2005.
Umesh Pal had claimed that Atiq Ahmad and aides kidnapped him at gunpoint on February 28, 2006 after he refused retract his statement given to the police in the BSP leader’s killing. Based on his complaint, the police on July 5, 2007, had lodged an FIR against Ahmed, his brother, and others.
The UP Police had submitted a chargesheet in the matter against 11 accused. One of them later died.
On February 24 this year, Umesh Pal was shot dead along with his two security men in Prayagraj. Atiq and his brother—who were both in jail at the time—were also the accused in the conspiracy to assassinate Umesh Pal.

Supreme Court marks 50th anniversary of Kesavananda Bharati case with dedicated web page

The Supreme Court on Monday marked the 50th anniversary of the historic Kesavananda Bharati case with a dedicated web page. The landmark verdict in the case laid down the doctrine of the ‘Basic Structure’ of the Indian Constitution.
An apex court bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud announced that the top court has dedicated a special web page containing all written submissions, arguments, and details of the ground-breaking April 24, 1973 judgement in the Kesavananda Bharati case.
The bench said the details on the web page would provide everything needed by researchers on the Kesavananda case in a single place.
The Supreme Court’s move was hailed by lawyers present in the courtroom who said the web page would be of immense help to students, lawyers and law researchers.

50 years ago on this day, a 13-judge bench of the Supreme Court, by a majority of 7:6, laid down the path-breaking concept of the ‘Basic Structure’ of the Constitution and ruled that the Parliament can amend the constitution but cannot change or amend the its basic structure.
The landmark judgement clarified that the Parliament is authorized to amend any part of the Constitution, including the fundamental rights, however, such amendments cannot remain immune from the power of the constitutional courts to exercise its power of judicial review to scrutinise all amendments and not just those affecting fundamental rights.
The 13 judges who passed the verdict on the Kesavananda Bharati case were, then CJI SM Sikri, justices JM Shelat, KS Hegde, AN Grover, AN Ray, B Jaganmohan Reddy, DG Palekar, HR Khanna, KK Mathew, MH Beg, SN Dwivedi, AK Mukherjea and YV Chandrachud.
The special web launched today contains the individual opinions of all the 13 judges on the bench in historic 1973 case, which was decided through 11 separate judgments.
