Woman feared kidnapped caught on video being snatched off Brooklyn street not a crime victim, NYPD determines

A woman feared kidnapped after she was seen in surveillance footage released by the NYPD being snatched off a Brooklyn street was not a crime victim after all, police said Monday.

The early Friday incident prompted an investigation by the NYPD’s Major Case Squad, which determined the woman and man are dating and that she was not abducted or hurt, police said.

Police released surveillance images of the Toyota minivan and of the man thought to be the abductor, seen carrying the woman after grabbing her near Avenue W and Stillwell Ave. in Gravesend at 1:45 a.m.

The early Friday incident prompted an investigation by the NYPD’s Major Case Squad, which determined the woman and man are dating and that she was not abducted or hurt, police said.

Witnesses called 911 but the man and woman were gone by the time officers arrived.

But by Saturday, no one had come forward to report a missing loved one or acquaintance matching the description of the victim and cops eventually determined the incident was not what it appeared to be.
