The police have arrested Prakash on the charges of murder.

Maharashtra Police on Monday arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his father to death in Thane district. The incident occurred in the Ambernath area on Sunday.
The Ulhasnagar Police Control Room official said the accused, Prakash, was furious with his 52-year-old father, Rajesh Varma, for beating up his mother. Prakash said that his father used to frequently abuse and beat up his mother and he had even asked him to refrain from doing that.
The official said on Sunday afternoon, Rajesh again started abusing and beating up his wife. Infuriated by this, the accused then picked up a sharp knife and stabbed him multiple times.
The family members immediately rushed him to the nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The police have arrested Prakash on the charges of murder.
Earlier in December, a 21-year-old man from Karnataka murdered his father and chopped his body into 30 pieces before disposing of them in an unused borewell.
Vithal Kulali took his 54-year-old father Parushram Kulali, who was in an intoxicated state, from their house around 6 pm to their agricultural land near the bypass and allegedly killed him by hitting his head with an iron rod and later cut him into 30 pieces.
Reports state that the accused was an alcoholic and often fought with family members including his wife every day.
The official said he took the drastic step as he was fed up with his father’s behaviour. The accused told the police that he initially tried to dump the body inside the borewell but later chopped it with an axe since it didn’t fit inside the well.

AAP councillor joins BJP ahead of Delhi MCD mayoral polls

In a setback for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the coming MCD mayoral elections, one of its councillors joined the Delhi unit of arch rival Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday.
AAP councillor from Dwarka C ward Sunita joined the BJP in presence of the saffron party’s senior leaders on Monday, two days before the elections for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) are scheduled to be held.
Welcoming Sunita into the right-wing party’s fold, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva attacked the AAP and claimed that the Arvind Kejriwal-led party treats common volunteers like “bonded labour” while everyone is equal in the BJP.
Sunita became the second AAP councillor to join the BJP in recent months after Pawan Sehrawat from Bawana ward switched sides in February this year.
Former AAP councillor Ram Niwas also joined the BJP along with Sunita.

Commenting on the development, West Delhi BJP MP Parvesh Verma claimed that many more from the AAP are expected to join the BJP soon as they are feeling “suffocated” in the Delhi Chief Minister’s party.
Thanking the BJP for “accepting her with open arms” Sunita said she had close ties with the BJP, particularly Parvesh Verma. The ex-AAP leader expressed her desire to work hard to strengthen the BJP at grassroot levels.
The AAP and the BJP have been in a tug of war in the national capital’s grassroots-level politics with the former defeating the later in last year’s MCD polls.
In the December 2022 MCD elections, the AAP won 134 wards while the BJP managed to secure victories in 104 of the 250 wards.
The Delhi MCD mayoral polls are scheduled to be held on April 26 and will determine how far the BJP has managed to come at municipal level politics in the national capital.
