Income tax officials conduct searches on premises of Chennai-based real estate firm

CHENNAI: Income tax sleuths on Monday began searches at 75 locations in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi linked to a Chennai-based real estate firm.
Officials said the searches were based on gathered information of income tax evasion by the real estate firm.
Around I-T personnel launched the searches simultaneously on Monday morning. The searched premises included 50 properties in and around Chennai alone.
Income tax officials said a property in Delhi was searched.
Anna Nagar MLA Mohan's house was also being searched by income tax sleuths. His supporters gathered to protest the searches.
“The searches will go on for at least two days,” said an official.
