‘58% candidates placed under Deen Dayal scheme in a year’
Jaipur: As many as 58.34% candidates have been placed under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushal Yojana (DDU-GKY) in Rajasthan in 2022-23, data from the rural development department revealed.
According to the data, out of 4,840 people trained under the scheme in 2022-23, as many as 2,824 have been placed in various sectors.
Around 52% candidates have been placed in the state in the last four years.
Out of 23,447 people trained in Rajasthan in the past four years, 12,405 have been placed, informed minister of state for rural development, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, in a reply to an unstarred question in Lok Sabha.
Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) is being implemented as a centrally sponsored scheme under National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) since 2014-15.
On a question whether the Union government has taken any step to boost rural employment of candidates under DDU-GKY, the minister replied, “There is no specific provision of rural employment under DDU-GKY programme. The placements of candidates under this programme are provided in industrial units mostly located in urban areas.”
Replying to another question on whether it was a fact that only one-third of the candidates have been placed so far in the states, Jyoti said, “No, this is not a fact.”
DDU-GKY is focused on rural youths in the 15-35 age group from poor families.
As part of the Skill India campaign, it is proving instrumental in supporting social and economic programmes of the government like Make In India, Digital India, Smart Cities and Start-Up India, and Stand-Up India.
