NOIDA: In yet another incident of this nature, a video of a child being chased by a pack of stray dogs in Eco Village 1 of Greater Noida has gone viral on social media. In the video, the boy was seen walking by the green area when a pack of stray dogs started chasing the boy which made him run from the spot.
"We have many stray dogs in our society. There has to be some solution to this issue, which every second society is facing in Noida and Greater Noida. We don't have any count about how many strays there are in our society but the number is increasing what we can say," said Sameer Bhardwaj, a resident of Eco Village 1.
"It's scary to see such incidents. Everyone wants to live in their societies peacefully without any fear. However, such incidents are making things impossible. How are we supposed to send our kids outside to play? Who is going to take responsibility if something happens to our children?" asked Rahul Choudhary, another resident of Eco Village 1.
A few days ago, a video of a woman running with a pet in her arms after being chased by a couple of dogs had also reignited a debate on whether strays should be allowed in gated compounds and brought the Noida Authority's sterilisation programme under the scanner. The incident happened in Mahagun Moderne society.
According to the Greater Noida Authority, so far, over 2,000 sterilisations have been done in the city this year. In Eco Village 1, the maintenance team had paid for 20 dogs to be sterilised but only 15 were actually sterilised. Multiple visits are required to ensure all dogs from a society are sterilised.
