Haveri: Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai has a big responsibility to lead the BJP to win in the state assembly election. Therefore, his son Bharath Bommai and wife Channamma are leading the campaign in the Shiggaon-Savanur assembly segment where he is contesting. CM Bommai filed his nomination on April 19 along with BJP chief JP Nadda and actor Kichach Sudeep, after a massive rally.
The CM has been attending the election campaign as he is a star campaigner in the saffron party that aims to return to power in Karnataka. Due to this, it is tough for him to attend rallies and campaign in his constituency Shiggaon-Savanur. Hence, his family members, supporters and party office-bearers have been trying to reach every corner of the assembly segment.
Channamma and Bharath have been conducting door-to-door campaigns in rural areas of the assembly segment. As part of Channamma Bommai's election campaign, women and different organisations have already been campaigning in several villages. Bharath also conducts meetings with party leaders, office-bearers and supporters every day, and chalks out the preparations for the elections campaign. An engineering graduate, Bharath also reached out to voters through a door-to-door campaigning with CM Bommai's supporters, in the scorching sun.
“My father has a bigger responsibility and is busy strategising for the party, and campaigning throughout the state during the assembly elections. So, me and my mother are leading the campaign by visiting people in the assembly segment. However, voters of the constituency know about my father’s busy schedule, and are not expecting him to appear physically. We have received favourable responses wherever we go,” shared Bharath Bommai.
“ also participated in the campaign in 2018, but this time I am much more involved. The CM has developed the assembly segment by setting up industries and a textile park. Locals have been given job opportunities. People know all this and will vote for development,” Bharath said confidently.
Channamma Bommai said that she received a warm welcome in villages. She noted that people trust her husband. “We are confident Shiggaon-Savanur residents will bless us this time too,” she added.
