Zach Freemantle to return for fifth season with Xavier Musketeers

Forward Zach Freemantle is returning to Xavier for a fifth season with the Musketeers, according to a report Monday via Twitter from @XavierManagers.
The tweet included a photo of the team's managers with Freemantle, who averaged 15.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 28.6 minutes per game in 22 games last season, including 21 starts.
Freemantle suffered a foot injury and did not play after XU's loss at Creighton in January. In March, the Muskies announced that Freemantle would have season-ending surgery on the foot. Freemantle had surgery on the same foot before the start of the 2021-22 season.
As a sophomore, Freemantle led XU in scoring (16.3 points per game) and led the Big East in rebounding (9.0 per game) and was named second-team All-Big East.
Earlier this month, Jerome Hunter announced he will return to XU next season and use his additional year of eligibility. Hunter, who has played the past two seasons for the Muskies after spending his first two seasons with the Indiana Hoosiers, earned additional playing time last season after Freemantle was injured.
Xavier has added North Texas' Abou Ousmane, Western Kentucky's Dayvion McKnight, Rice's Quincy Olivari and Indiana's Logan Duncomb, a former Moeller High School standout, via the transfer portal.
