Chinese Shares Open Mixed; Covid Concerns Re-emerge

0145 GMT — Chinese shares open mixed, as investors take a breather from China’s reopening optimism amid concerns about another possible surge in Covid cases, which add uncertainty to the prospect of economic recovery. Hardware makers and software companies lead the declines, with ZTE Corp. down 1.3% and Beijing Kingsoft Office Software down 1.2%. . Insurers are outperforming, with New China Life Insurance up 1.0% and China Life Insurance up 0.9%. The Shanghai Composite Index opens flat at 3276.40.
