RCB vs RR LIVE score, IPL 2023: Jaiswal, Padikkal rebuild; RR 71/1 in 8 overs

Wanindu Hasaranga replaces Harshal Patel. Padikkal plays a very late cut first ball and picks two.

Jaiswal dances out of the crease and slaps Maxwell over cover for a flat six. And he ends the over with a slog sweep for four. Another big over for RR, 14 off it.

Harshal Patel into the attack. Padikkal welcomes him with a first-ball maximum, beautifully timed over long-on. Meanwhile, the fifty stand is up between these two. 10 off the over in the end.

Off-spinner Glenn Maxwell on with two LH batters at the crease. Padikkal flicks the first ball through the vacant midwicket area for four. He goes one batter next as he steps out and launches Maxwell over long-on for a maximum. 11 off it as PowerPlay comes to an end.

Vijaykumar Vyshak into the attack and welcomed by Padikkal with two successive boundaries. Padikkal makes it three in the over as he pierces the gap between short third and backward point for four more. 13 off it.

With Buttler gone, Jaiswal has taken over the mantle of scoring briskly. He gives Willey the charge and cuts him for four. To prevent him from walking down the pitch, Karthik is standing up to the stumps. 7 from the over.

Jaiswal greets him with two back-to-back fours. 10 off this over.

Willey into the attack. He allows width and Jaiswal throws his bat at it, the outside edge races away to the third-man fence. Five from the over.

Buttler and Jaiswal start the chase. Siraj has the new ball. He has castled Buttler with a brilliant inswinger. Buttler goes for a duck. It was a wobble-seam ball. Padikkal is in next. One run off the over.

It was a game of two halves. RCB lost two quick wickets before Faf and Maxi put on an aggressive century stand to put Bangalore on course for a big total. But once these two fell, RCB’s relatively untested middle-order ran out of fizz, thanks to some excellent fielding and good deatj-bowling. Yuzi Chahal was once again brilliant in his happy hunting ground.

RR need 190 to win

There’s a run out first ball! Hasaranga is run out trying to get DK back on strike. David Willey is in next. The first one’s a wide, so DK still has 6 balls. DK has managed to put the first legal delivery away for four. But he has been caught next ball! Vyshak is in next and he is caught first ball. This a proper collapse from RCB. Siraj is the last man in. He keeps out the hat-trick ball, just a single though. Willey gets a single off the penultimate ball and they review the last ball for a wide. The decision stands, it is a dot to finish.

Karthik can only collect a single off the first ball. Chahal’s giving the batters no pace at all. Hasaranga pinches a brace next ball. Hasaranga takes one off the third. Karthik finds the fielder again, just a single. Chahal’s bowled a wide. A single and a brace to finish what has been an excellent spell. Chahal: 4-0-28-1.

Karthik plays a beautiful flick shot for four but is at the receiving end of a lbw review next ball! It’s missing the wickets and Karthik survives, RR lose a review. And yet, it is just six off the over.

Chahal back into the attack. RCB need to take on Chahal, can’t just play him out. Dot and a single off the first two. GONE! Chahal’s love affair with Chinnaswamy continues... he gets Lomror, who holes out trying to go big. A wide leg-break doing the trick. Prabhudessai is in next. Another one down, a terrible mix-up between Prabhudessai and DK and the former is caught short of his crease. RCB falling apart in these death overs. Hasaranga is in next. Just 2 runs and 2 wickets from the over.

Fine over from Holder. Only six came off it. RCB hasn’t had many contributions from its lower middle-order this year but that needs to change now if they want to post an imposing score.

Lomror opens his account with a regal drive for four, danced down the track and drove it handsomely. GONE! Oh Maxwell, what have you done - he has holed out off a carrom ball, last of Ashwin’s spell! Maxwell goes for a 44-ball 77. Dinesh Karthik has come to the crease.

Sandeep Sharma comes from around the wicket and Faf greets him with a cover drive for four. But Faf is run out next ball! Faf hit one towards Jaiswal at cover and took off; the fielder had one and a half stumps to aim and he doesn’t miss. Faf goes for 62 off 39. That’s the end of a 127-run stand. Lomror is in next but it is Maxwell who is on strike and he plays a wristy flick for four. He collects 2 each off the next two; could’e four off the fourth ball but Padikkal’s dive saved a certain boundary. 13 from the over in the end.

Two singles off the first two balls and Ashwin bowls a wide but RR have reviewed it.. Maxi backed away early and Ashwin followed him. Maxwell then got back inside the line. Ashwin managed to convince Sanju to go upstairs. The decision stands, it is a wide. Seven from that over including the wide. Very well bowled.

Boult to bowl out now. In the meantime, Maxi and Faf have added 100 for the third wicket. Boult concedes five wides. Du Plessis’ turn to raise his bat in celebration as he works one off the pads for four to reach his fifty off 31 balls. Du Plessis ends the over with a four, 17 from it!

Ashwin to Maxwell. RR bring him back despite having two RH batters at the crease. It’s a favourable matchup for Maxi, whose attempted big hit straight down the ground ends up being a six over long-on because of a thick outside edge! 10 off the over.

After two overs without a boundary, Faf pulls one from Holder for four. The West Indian bowling slower balls into the pitch. Meanwhile, Maxwell smacks the fourth ball straight down the ground for a maximum, brings up a 27-ball 50! Maxi was waiting for the slower ball and duly punished it. Faf ends the over with a boundary, dismissed over deep mid-wicket.

Chahal continues with three men on the off side, as a preventive mesaure against the reverse sweep. He starts with a dot ball to Maxi. Maxi collects 2 off the second ball. Chahal bowls a wide but the plan to Maxi is clear, bowl wide of off stump and slow down the pace. Excellent from Yuzi given the onslaught.

Holder into the attack now. Lomror, Karthik and Prabhudessai are yet to come. Maxi and Faf are setting up a nice platform here. Holder mixing up his pace, conceding 6.

Chahal into the attack. He has 51 IPL wickets at Bangalore. Just four off the first three, two singles and a brace. RR desperately need a breakthrough. Maxwell though is in the mood as he reverse sweeps Chahal over the 30-yard circle for six. 10 runs off that over in the end.

Ashwin to bowl his first inside the PowerPlay. Maxwell gets an inside edge that pierces the gap between short fine and square leg for four, he was looking to slog but gets a thick inside edge. And off the fifth ball, Maxwell backs away and absolutely clobbers the carrom ball over long-off for six. 12 from Ashwin’s first and the 50-run stand is up between these two. This has been terrific counter-attacking cricket from RCB after those early setbacks.

Boult’s into his third. Maxwell guides a short ball finer off short third for four. The mighty Aussie does one better on the fourth ball when he opened the face and carved the ball between short-third and backward point for four more. Terrific placement from Maxi. The team 50 comes up in that over, 12 from it.

Sandeep continues. Faf’s teeing off again as he lofts the third ball over deep extra for six - a 75-metre maximum. He follows it up with a straight six as the crowd comes alive! And Faf ends the over with an effortless pull shot for four more.

The move to promote Shahbaz backfires as his attempted pull off Boult’s first ball goes straight to Jaiswal at mid-wicket. Shahbaz was hurried on the backfoot and paid the price. That brings Glenn Maxwell to the crease. Maxwell off the mark with a cover drive on the up for four. There’s a slip in place for Maxi, who finds the gap again as he drives one to the sweeper cover fence for four more. A couple to finish. 10 runs and a wicket.

Sandeep Sharma shares the new ball. Deep square and third-man for Sandeep. Faf on strike. He deposits a slightly short ball over deep mid-wicket for four. Third man up inside the circle and long on goes back after that boundary. Faf’s second boundary is a gorgeous drive through covers. 10 off the over.

Trent Boult, who has been so good in the first six, will take the new ball. Will Boult get another first-over wicket? Kohli will take strike. Oh gone! What a great first ball. Kohli has been adjudged lbw first ball. This is Boult’s 100th wicket in the IPL and he has silenced the crowd at Chinnaswamy. Trademark inswinger does the trick. A run feast is on the cards when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) takes on Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday.

Batters had a field day in the previous encounter at this venue, when RCB and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) scored in excess of 200.

“Even the good balls go for boundaries here. Batsmen do not have any apprehension going for big shots because even if they do not connect, they are likely to clear the boundary line,” RCB speedster Harshal Patel stated on Saturday.

RCB will once again rely on Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell to come good with the bat. Du Plessis and Kohli did well in the match against Punjab Kings on Thursday, leading the unit to a 24-run win. It is when the top-order fails that RCB struggles.

RCB fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has had a breakout season with 12 wickets in this tournament. Fellow pacer Josh Hazlewood, who has been out of action for three months due to Achilles tendonitis, has been training with the squad. The Australian bowled in the nets on Saturday, and it remains to be seen if he will feature in the eleven on Sunday.

RR suffered a second loss in six outings a few days ago, falling to Lucknow Super Giants by 10 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, and Shimron Hetmyer may not score on a consistent basis, but overall, the visitor possesses enough ammunition to come out firing.

RR seamer Sandeep Sharma will fancy bowling to Kohli, having dismissed the star batter seven times in 14 T20 matches. Sandeep, however, played down his great record against Kohli. “I’ve been lucky against Kohli. I’ve got him out seven times, but I’ve been lucky on three or four occasions. I’ve been lucky with the umpire’s decision, and Kohli has also nicked it down the leg,” Sandeep said.
