Neet UG exam on May 7, Ludh likely to have 16 centres
Ludhiana: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Neet) for undergraduate level — the renowned qualifying examination for admissions into MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS and BSc (nursing) courses — would be held across the country on May 7.
Many candidates in Ludhiana have also registered themselves for Neet this year, on the portal given by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which is the nodal agency for the exam.
Neet UG coordinator in the city, Dr Paramjit Kaur, who’s also the director of BCM Arya School, said, “Admit cards are expected to be released soon for the registered candidates. The NTA, in a meeting held recently with coordinators pan India, has asked for the list of 16-17 tentative centres from the district but they are yet to be finalised.”
She said that they have shared the details of the schools with capacity of more than 500 students which are located at prime locations and can be made centres for the exam. Besides, she informed that all Covid-related guidelines would be followed during the exam.
While talking about how students should prepare for the Neet, Tejpreet, who heads a private coaching institute in Dugri, said, “The questions in the Neet (UG) 2023 paper will be framed according to the syllabi of classes XI and XII.”
Students for postponement of Neet (UG)
While Neet usually happens on May 7 every year, many aspirants are of the opinion that the exam should be postponed this year because the Class XII CBSE Board examinations ran as late as the first week of April.
Isha Jindal, a student at a private school said, “We are getting less time to prepare for Neet after the board exams. My last CBSE Board exam was on April 5, and the Neet is scheduled for May 7. If we look closely at the exam schedule, only 32 days were left for the students to prepare for the competitive exam after the boards.”
