Ludhiana rural police arrest woman for murder of her husband

LUDHIANA: Ludhiana rural police on Sunday morning arrested a woman for the murder of her husband after the couple fought with each other on Saturday night. Police identified the accused as Gurmeet Kaur of Moti Bagh area of Agwar Gujjran in Jagraon.
Police officials said that the deceased Prakash Singh Soni, who would run a fruit vend near Kamal Chowk, was married to the accused about eighteen years ago. They added that couple have a sixteen years old daughter Parveen Kaur, who is student of tenth standard.
Cops said that as the deceased would allegedly use bad words for his wife and daughter, she was living with her aunt for around a month now. They added that on Saturday evening as well, the couple fought with each other.
Police officials said that apparently after the fight, the accused strangulated her husband to death. They added that on Sunday morning as the word about the death of Soni spread in the area, Sukhwinder, the brother of the deceased, came to know about it at 8am and reached the spot.
Meanwhile, Sukhwinder Singh, saw rope marks on his brother's neck. Seeing the mark, Sukhwinder Singh raised an alarm and informed the police.
