MUMBAI: The immigration officials at the Mumbai International Airport stopped a 20-year-old Porbandar resident who tried to board a flight to the UK after changing his religion in passport to get a family permit visa from a woman whom he showed as his mother residing in Manchester.
After initial inquiries, the immigration officials handed over the accused, Veja Nagajan Modhvadiya, to the Sahar police. The cops during their investigation found that the agent who helped him in getting the passport with a fake name made him delete all their communication details and his contact history from the mobile so that if caught he (agent) will not fall in police net.
Modhvadiya got in touch with the agent Lakhan Odedara in Gujarat in 2022 regarding his travel to the UK as it was not possible for him to get that country's visa through the normal channel.
A police officer said, "The agent first made Modhvadiya apply for an Indian passport in the name of Isab Adil Mohadsalim. Later, the agent got Modhvadiya in touch with Cott Saidabanu Abdulcadir, a Portugal national, who sent a consent letter with the UK family permit visa to the accused showing him as her son." -
