Cool Planet, the decarbonisation business set up by Norman Crowley, has forecast that a new software tool it’s launched to enable manufacturing firms and commercial building operators to map their journey to net zero carbon emissions will be used at 400 sites by the end of 2023.
The company, which counts most of the world’s biggest food and pharma companies as its customers, said Net Zero Glidepath will help organisations understand their path to net zero and understand what actions are required to get there. The tool can track decarbonisation initiatives in real time and see how they impact current emissions and align with future targets.
Group chief executive Alan Keogh said the company is aiming the tool at pharma and medical devices companies, food and beverage makers, shipping companies, and the commercial property sector. He anticipates the 300 sites currently using Cool Planet and another 100 will be deploying Glidepath by the end of this year.
“These will be large factory sites/plants, and thus the carbon, energy, and cost savings will be significant,” he said. “We would expect five million tonnes of carbon savings to be managed via Glidepath in the next 12 months.
