Ranchi: The directorate of civil aviation (DCA) of the state transport department on Saturday said they would roll out an air ambulance service in Jharkhand from April 28.
Talking to TOI, the director (operations) of civil aviation, Captain S P Sinha, said, “Chief minister Hemant Soren will launch air ambulance services on April 28. The move will boost medical transport facilities from this state to other destinations during emergencies.”
Soren had in the past announced that his government was working on a plan to provide affordable air ambulance services to the people in need. Once it rolls out, it would go a long way in weeding out the hassles faced by people in arranging private charter planes (air ambulances) on their own, Sinha said.
“We are trying to connect air ambulances to all key destinations in the country like Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, where most of the high-end medical facilities exist. Once the operation begins, more destinations will be added based on the requirements and the need,” he said, adding that the state government will play the role of the facilitator in the entire process.
“Arranging an air ambulance takes a lot of time which usually delays treatment in case of emergency. We plan to ensure that at least one air ambulance remains static in Ranchi to ferry people from any district to the destination within the shortest possible time. Also, the role of middlemen and high-booking rates would be weeded out with the government initiative,” Sinha said.
