Bharti (161*) guides Team-E to victory

Nagpur: Vidarbha’s attacking batter Bharti Fulmali (161 n.o; 99b, 19x4, 4x6) hammered unbeaten 161 runs while chasing and took her team — Team-E — to 4-wicket victory over Team-C in VCA’s women’s One-day league on Saturday.
While chasing 226 in 35 overs, skipper Bharti arrived at the crease in the 5th over after her team lost the first wicket. Though wickets kept falling from one end, Bharti maintained the tempo. Bharti got support from Akshara Itankar and Sayali Solapurkar, both scored 16 runs, second highest individual score of the team. In the last over, Team-E needed 16 runs and Bharti scored all the runs including a six and a four.
Earlier, Charmy Gawai (54) and Prajakta Jogi (52) got the runs for Team-C, who managed 225 for 5 in stipulated 35 overs.
Other three matches were low scoring and teams batting first got out below 100 and all of them lost their battles. tnn
