Helping the poor marks Eid celebrations in city
Ranchi: Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm as Muslims offered prayers at various mosques across Ranchi on Saturday. The namaz was offered at Eidgahs in Ranchi, Bariatu, Kanke, Harmu, and Doranda, mosques and madrassas starting between 6 am and 10 am. Most people flocked to Harmu and Doranda. Women followed itikaf at homes. After performing the prayer, people embraced and wished each other.
On this occasion, MP Mahua Maji met the devotees outside the Harmu Eidgah and greeted them.
Sahid Alam, a resident of Upper Bazar, said, “Lachha and shemai were served as Eid special dishes. On the occasion, we donated clothes, linens and money to those who lack the financial means to celebrate the festival."
Nadeem Akhtar, a member of Rahmat Colony Friends Compound (RCFC), said, "To celebrate Eid and assist the needy in completing their month-long roza (fast), we distributed bags containing rice, wheat, dates, and oil to around 100 people."
Sahid Hussain, a devotee, said, "To end Ramzan, members of all Muslim communities gather at the Eidgahs to pray for happiness, serenity and blessings. We await this event for an entire year and prepare special dishes to celebrate the occasion."
Another devotee Maulana Masood Azhar said, "Eid is the holiest religious festival of the Muslim community. It is preceded by the sacred month of Ramzan for thirty days, which began with the sighting of the moon on March 23 this year. Prayers were offered for world peace and harmony.
