Woman loses 9L in online scam

Coimbatore: A 30-year-old Kallimadai resident lost 8.87 lakh to scammers, who lured her on Telegram channel Part Time Job.
Y Priyanka received a message regarding a part-time job a week ago. She clicked the message and contacted the scammers, who asked her to send 200 to an account to earn 263.75. She received the promised amount within hours and went on to invest 8,000 in two days, for which she received 10,550.
She started investing large sums from last Tuesday and sent 8.87 lakh in multiple transactions, but did not receive anything in return. When she demanded the money, the scammers asked her to invest more.
Priyanka approached the city cybercrime police station on Friday. Inspector P A Arun has launched an inquiry.
