Hearing on draft CZMP for district on May 22

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The public hearing to discuss suggestions and objections on the draft coastal zone management plan (CZMP) prepared for the district based on coastal regulation zone (CRZ) notification 2019 will be held on May 22 at 10.30am at Collectorate conference hall, Kudappanakunnu.
The CRZ notification, 2011, has been superseded by the notification issued in 2019. In accordance with para six of the CRZ notification 2019, the state government had entrusted the National Centre for Earth Science Studies with the work of revision of CZMP.
The local bodies covered in CZMP includethe corporation, municipalities (Varkala, Attingal), grama panchayats (Anchuthengu, Edava,Vakkom, Vettoor, Azhoor, Cherunniyoor, Chirayinkeezhu, Kadakkavoor, Kadinamkulam, Kizhuvilam, Manamboor, Mangalapuram, Ottoor, Andoorkonam, Venganoor, Elankamon, Chengal, Karodu, Karumkulam, Kottukal, Kulathoor, Poovar and Thirupuram).
The member secretary of KCZMA has notified that the public may communicate their comments, suggestions and objections within 30 days from the date of publication of the notice by post or through email to kczmasandtd@gmail.com. Alternatively, the public can also submit them online by clicking ‘grievances’ option on the website coastal.keltron.org.
