In Odisha, two dead, 10 injured in road accident

BERHAMPUR: Two persons died and 10 others were injured after the auto-rickshaw they were travelling in rolled into a 7ft-deep ditch near Manikapur under Gajapati district's R Udayagiri police station on Friday.
The victims were identified as Dali Jena (35) of Badapada and Loka Mandal (74) of Kureisingh near Badapada, police said.
While two critically injured people were referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, eight others are being treated at the district headquarters hospital in Paralakhemundi, the police said.
"The auto-rickshaw, which was carrying the 12 passengers, was going from Karadenga to Nuagada when it skidded off the road and fell into the ditch," said Prasant Kumar Mallick, IIC, R Udaygiri police station.
Fire personnel and police officers rushed to the spot and rescued the passengers. The injured were taken to Khajuripada hospital before being transferred to Berhampur and Paralakhemundi, Mallick added.
