PATNA: The state recorded 133 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, taking active cases to 784. The maximum 52 cases were from Patna district, including from Paliganj, Phulwarisharif and Dulhin Bazaar blocks, apart from the area under Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC).
As per the data shared by the state health department, the new cases were registered against 4,891 samples tested. The state Covid positivity rate was 0.25%. A day before, 139 new cases were registered against 52,510 samples.
After Patna, Bhagalpur registered 15 cases, followed by Khagaria (10), Kaimur (9), Saharsa (8), Purnia (7), Gaya (7), West Champaran (4), Madhepura (2), Madhubani (2), Muzaffarpur (2) and Banka (2). Several other districts had one case each.
At AIIMS-Patna, six people were admitted, including a woman being on ventilator support. Covid-19 nodal in-charge of the hospital, Dr Sanjeev Kumar, said the woman was admitted for past five days and was in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, of the 100 samples tested over there, 11 were found positive, including three from Paliganj, two from Dulhin Bazar and one from Phulwarisharif area. Five patients of the hospital had also tested positive. When asked about the trend and whether the cases will continue to increase or decline, Dr Kumar replied, "It is too early to predict the trend."
Bihar was placed at number 16 with 133 new cases in a day, while Uttarakhand was just above it with 141 cases.
