Kerala: Grievance redressal campaign for coastal residents to be inaugurated on Sunday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the state level grievance redressal campaign for coastal residents on Sunday at Pozhiyur Government UP school.
The government has conceived this campaign as an adalat titled 'Theerasadasu' to interact directly with the residents of coastal hamlets and take steps to resolve their issues.
The fisheries department has received 7,632 applications from the district for the adalat. The adalat will be held in Neyyatinkara, Kovalam, Nemom, Thiruvananthapuram, Kazhakootam, Chirayinkeezhu and Varkala. The first coastal adalat as part of the grievance redressal campaign in the district is being held in Neyyatinkara assembly constituency. Applications have been received online the numbers of which are Thiruvananthapuram (676), Neyyatinkara ( 2430), Kovalam ( 2206), Chirayinkeezhu ( 2061), Kazhakootam ( 151), Nemom ( 30) and Varkala ( 78).
The adalat will consider complaints in around fifty topics which include housing related issues, ownership related to houses completed under LIFE mission, Punargeham scheme, compensation as part of Vizhinjam port project, various financial aid schemes, ration card, title deeds, resurvey, insurance, debt relief, fishing equipments, kerosene permit, matysafed society affiliation, electricity, water supply connection and road tarring.
The adalat will be held till April 27. Adalat for Kovalam, Nemom will be held on April 25 and the adalat in Thiruvananthapuram and Kazhakootam will be held on April 26. The programme will be held at Chirayinkeezhu and Varkala on April 26 and 27 respectively. MLAs, local body representatives will take part in the adalat.
