LUDHIANA: After more than a year, four Covid-19 patients from Ludhiana were put on a ventilator support on Friday. All patients were admitted to private hospitals, health officials said. It was only on February 10, 2022, when six Covid patients from the district needed ventilator support. Health officials said on July 1, a patient from Ludhiana was put on ventilator support.
Meanwhile, 43 new cases of Covid-19 surfaced in Ludhiana on Friday. The health department said 12 patients had influenza like illness. New cases included an undertrial and a healthcare worker. Nine patients are still being traced, officials said.
The cumulative Covid count in the district has gone up to 1,14,121 cases, out of which 3,023 patients have died and 206 cases were active.
Health teams collected 1,069 fresh samples for Covid testing during the day. Five beds in isolation wards of a government hospital and 11 in private hospitals are occupied at present, officials said.
