A lack of cloud cover and non-incursion of moisture-bearing winds from the Arabian Sea or the Bay of Bengal have pushed Pune and its neighbouring regions to report temperatures in the range of 38-41 degree Celsius.
This trend is said to be normal for the summer months and no heat wave warnings have been issued for Pune. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has asked people to protect themselves from over exposure to high temperatures, especially in the afternoons.
Since the last few days, Pune and its surrounding areas have reported temperatures in the range of 38-41 degree Celsius. Last week, an incursion of moisture-laden wind from both Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal due to convective activities had led to summer rains which had brought some relief from the heat.
Till date, Pune has received 46.7 mm of rainfall as against the normal of 6.4 mm. The summer rains helped Pune and its surrounding areas to escape the heatwave-like conditions. East and parts of Central India had reported heatwave-like conditions.
At present, the maximum temperature in the city would be in the range of 38-41 while the minimum temperature is between 21-22 degree Celsius.
