A man was arrested on Wednesday and charged on suspicion of second-degree murder for a February crash that killed a driver off Broadway Road in Phoenix, according to Phoenix police reports.

On February 5, Michael Gordon, 50, was driving a Chevrolet Impala westbound on Broadway Road near Seventh Avenue in Phoenix in the afternoon hours, according to arrest records.

Police say Gordon collided with a Mitsubishi Mirage that was exiting from a private drive in an attempt to make a left to go east on Broadway Road. The impact killed the unidentified driver of the Mitsubishi Mirage, according to police reports.

Upon investigation of the collision, it was determined speed was a factor as camera footage showed Gordon was driving an average of 72 mph prior to the crash. The posted speed limit was 40 mph. When the crash occurred, a police momentum analysis determined that Gordon was driving 65 mph, which was 25 mph over the speed limit, according to arrest records.

According to arrest records, a toxicology report showed that Gordon's blood sample tested positive for narcotics.

On Thursday, Gordon was released from custody with a $250,000 bail. A court hearing is scheduled for April 26.
