Samsung will release a new Fan Edition Galaxy S phone later this year. After skipping the Galaxy S22 FE, Samsung is working on bringing the Galaxy S23 FE to the market in late 2023.

The S23 FE will no doubt have all of the software features that debuted on the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra, but owners of existing Galaxy S FE devices won’t need to upgrade to the newer model to get all of those features on their phones.

Image Clipper, for instance, is a Galaxy S23 feature that’s already available on the Galaxy S21 FE, and now, Samsung has brought it to the Galaxy S20 FE as well. The latest Galaxy S20 FE update, which includes the April 2023 security patch, also adds Image Clipper support.

Image Clipper now available on all Galaxy S20 models

The update comes with firmware version G781BXXU5HWCH and is rolling out in some European countries. For now, only the 5G variant is being updated, but the 4G/LTE variant shouldn’t be far behind. As usual, you can try downloading the update from the phone’s Settings » Software update menu or upgrade to the newest software using firmware available in our archive.

Once the update is installed, you will be able to use the Image Clipper feature in the Gallery app and Samsung Internet – all you need to do is touch and hold any object you want to clip from an image to save as a separate image, share to others, or copy to other apps. More details and a proper how-to on the feature can be found here.

As was the case with the Galaxy S22 series phones, it’s not 100% certain that the S20 FE’s April update will include Image Clipper in every market. Depending on your country, you might have to wait for another update before the feature’s available on your phone.
