GURGAON: The highly decomposed body of a 30-year-old man was fished out from a sewer line along Sohna road in Badshapur on Thursday evening. According to cops, an initial probe suggests the man was drunk and fell into the 12-foot-deep drain while walking along the road.
The man has been identified as Dinesh Kumar from Mathura of UP. He worked as a cab driver and stayed with his brother in Badshapur, cops said.
On Thursday evening, some shopkeepers noticed a foul smell coming from the sewer line and informed cops. According to the police, they had received information around 3pm on Thursday. A team from Badshapur police station soon reached the spot and spotted a body. They informed
MCG and fire brigade officials, after which two earthmovers were brought. The fire brigade team fished the body out after three hours of effort.
“The body was in a highly decomposed condition. A police team recovered a laptop bag that the man was holding. We also recovered a mobile phone, a power bank and a few empty bottles of alcohol inside the laptop bag. A document inside the bag identified him as Dinesh Kumar. An initial investigation has suggested that the man was in an inebriated condition and fell in the sewage line while walking. It seems he died due to head injuries,” said inspector Madan Lal, SHO of Badshapur police station.
“We have handed over the body to the family. We are also investigating the matter to find out whether he was murdered or fell,” the SHO added.
