GURGAON: Around 1,500 families in Park View Ananda in Sector 81 had to wait for around 36 hours to get their electricity supply restored on Friday.
The high-tension line that supplies power to the society had developed faults, causing an outage. The supply was restored after laying a new 125m line.
The supply was disrupted on April 19 around 5pm. After several complaints and calls, a field official of DHBVN and the maintenance team of the society started to find out the fault.
The society gets supply from a substation located around 10km from the society. The society and substation are connected via an underground cable. A portion of the cable passes through an area filled with sewage water spread over around 4 acres of land. The fault was in the cable in the area submerged in sewage .
“Repairing the fault in the waterlogged area was difficult and removing so much sewage was not possible,” said a discom official.
The officials then decided to lay another cable around the waterlogged area.
