COIMBATORE: Several trains going in the Dharmapuri - Hosur stretch were diverted and one train was cancelled after a goods train derailed between the Marandahalli and Rayakottai railway stations on early hours of Friday. The train was carrying fertilizers from Salem to Bengaluru.
In a press note released by Southern Railway, it said the Salem -Yesvantpur train (no:16212) scheduled to leave the Salem Junction at 5.20am was cancelled due to the incident.
The Coimbatore - Lokmanya Tilak Terminus express (no:11014), which left Coimbatore Junction at 08.50am on Friday, was diverted. The train skipped stations between Dharmapuri and Hosur and passed through Kuppam, Bangarapet, Malur and Krishnarajapuram with stoppage for a minute at these stations.
The KSR Bengaluru - Ernakulam Junction express (no:12677) was also diverted between Bengaluru Cantonment - Salem Junction via Tirupattur. Consequently, the train skipped Carmelaram, Hosur and Dharmapuri stations.
The SMVT Bengaluru - Karaikal train (no:16529) was diverted via Tirupattur on Friday. So, it skipped Belandur Road, Carmelaram, Heelalige, Anekal Road, Hosur, Kelamangalam, Periya Naga Thunai, Rayakkottai, Marandahalli, Palakkodu, Dharmapuri, Sivadi, Muttampatti, Toppur, Karuvalli, Semmandappatti and Omalur stations.
The affected section between Salem and Bengaluru were restored and services will resume as usual on Saturday.
