Japanese film screened at ESG
Sachin Chatte hosted the screening of a Japanese family drama, Our Little Sisterdirected by Hirokazu Koreeda, at ESG, Panaji. One of the contemporary masters of world cinema, director Hirokazu Koreeda steadily made a bunch of films that won accolades and awards, including the Palm d'Or winner, Shoplifters.
Our Little Sister is about three sisters who live at their grandparents house. At the funeral of their father, whom they hadn't seen in over a decade, they meet their 14 year old half-sister, Suzu. The rest of the film delves on the relationship that develops between the young girl and the other sisters. Writing for the New York Times, A.O. Scott said, "The film goes down as easily as a sip of the plum wine the sisters brew and yet leaves the viewer both sated and intoxicated."
