JAIPUR: The JMC-Heritage administration on Friday suspended an official from the vigilance wing, while acting in the suicide case of a tea vendor whose family has been protesting at Chandi Ki Taksal since the past five days.
An order issued by Vishram Meena, commissioner JMC-Heritage said Niraj Tiwari, an official of vigilance wing of the civic body, has been suspended and additional commissioner Rajendra Verma has been given the charge of investigating and submitting a report in the matter within seven days to the commissioner.
Tea-vendor Ram Prasad Meena’s family is still protesting with his body at the Chandi Ki Taksal and last rites will not be conducted till action is taken against the accused, the family said.
The family members have been demanding action against the accused, compensation from the state government, resignation by cabinet minister Mahesh Joshi, who allegedly exerted pressure on the victim and did not let him construct a house, a government job to a member of victim’s family and let them construct their house.
On Friday, the victim’s mother, wife and sister were taken to SMS Hospital after their health condition deteriorated due to continuous sit-in protest.
“No official is coming to talk. We learnt from the media only one official has been suspended. In such heat and difficult conditions, we have been protesting for five days and such a situation takes a toll on us emotionally also, due to which our relatives fell ill and had to be rushed to the hospital. We will continue our protest and not conduct the last rites till action is taken against all accused,” said Mahaveer Meena, victim’s cousin.
