AIZAWL: Two persons were killed and four others were injured when
Myanmar air force warplanes bombarded a Chin National Army (CNA) camp near Zimte village in the Chin state of Myanmar on Friday.
Zimte village is situated just across the Champhai-Tlangsam village in Champhai district on the other bank of the Mizoram-Myanmar border river Tiau.
Reports received from Champhai said the warplanes bombarded the village twice at 11am IST, killing one person on the spot. The funeral conducted by Wesleyan Pastor Rev. F. Laliansanga was held at Zimte village.
"Five injured persons were evacuated to the Champhai district hospital where a CNA doctor succumbed to her injuries," medical superintendent Zatluanga said. Her body would be taken to Camp Victoria, the military headquarters of the CNA, for funeral.
Out of the remaining four injured persons, one was discharged after administering first aid. The other three persons are undergoing treatment at the Champhai district hospital.
Reports said there has so far been no influx of refugees to Mizoram due to the incident.
