Social media company Twitter removing verified badges from accounts that didn't pay for the monthly subscription fee of Twitter Blue came as a surprise for high-profile users.
However, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been taking the loss of the blue tick in his stride.
After a witty post 'begging' Twitter CEO Elon Musk to restore his blue tick, the Big B took to the micro-blogging platform to thank the second richest man in the world after his profile got the coveted blue tick back.
Bachchan dedicated the popular song 'Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast' from the 1994 'Mohra', featuring Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar, to Musk - with a unique twist.
"Tu cheez badi hai Musk Musk... tu chiz badi hai Musk."
In his Bhojpuri tweet, the actor wrote, "Hey Musk brother! Thank you very much! My blue lotus (neel kamal) is back! So, I feel like dedicating this song to you."
After getting his blue tick back, the 80-year-old had been experimenting with the profile name and decided to add India's flag after the verified badge. However, he faced some difficulty in the initial steps and the blue tick disappeared again.
In another tweet, Bachchan drafted another quirky message to 'Twitter Aunty.' His post read, "Hey, Twitter aunty! Something went haywire. My blue lotus was lonely and I decided to place India's flag next to it. Soon after, my neel kamal disappeared. Need your help."
Minutes after his post, the verified badge returned to Bachchan's profile. He celebrated the development with another tweet.
Bachchan had earlier taken to the social media platform to return his blue tick which he referred to as the "neel kamal." The 'Piku' star also folded his hands (he used an emoticon) urging for the return of his verification badge. The megastar claimed that he had already paid for the services.
The Musk-owned social media platform is charging $8 (around Rs 660) a month for the Twitter Blue subscription which allows edits to tweets and lets users enjoy the blue tick.
Besides Bachchan, others who have lost their verification tick include Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Ranveer Singh, Ajay Devgn, Yogi Adityanath, Arvind Kejriwal, Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma and Rahul Gandhi to name a few.
