Union Minister for Communications and Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw on April 22 dedicated 254 ‘4G mobile towers’ to Arunachal Pradesh via video conferencing. During the press conference minister claimed that India’s communication technology is way ahead of many advanced and rich countries in the world.While explaining about India’s advanced digital bank transaction system used for transferring money to scheme benificiaries, Ashwini Vaishnaw said that India’s digital advancement has become more powerful with communication technology.Minister also claimed that India has successfully constructed a mobile network tower at the altitude of 12,600 feets in Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh. It is highest altitude mobile tower in India.Meanwhile, these towers will provide 4G coverage in uncovered villages, thereby bringing digital connectivity to 336 villages, including several areas which have remained unconnected so far. On the occasion, Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju, and Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan were present.Earlier, Ministry of Communications in a statement informed that the Central government has approved two thousand 605 4G mobile towers for providing connectivity to more than 3 thousand 721 villages in Arunachal Pradesh. These mobile towers have been approved with a total outlay of 2 thousand 675 crore rupees.
