HYDERABAD: Days after claiming that they have almost completed the probe in the TSPSC exam paper leak case, SIT sleuths arrested a father-son duo from Mahabubnagar who are believed to have paid 1.95 lakh to obtain the assistant engineer (civil) exam question paper from one of the accused, Dakya Naik.
SIT arrested K Janardhan, a government job aspirant from Gandeed near Mahabubnagar town, and his father K Maidaiah, who works as a technical assistant at the MPDO office in Vikarabad district. The duo was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody on Friday.
While examining the bank transaction records of Naik, who himself is a technical assistant at the Vikarabad MPDO office, SIT investigators found two suspicious money transfers into his bank account from two persons on March 1 and March 2.
"One transaction was for 95,000 and the second transaction was for 1 lakh. Both are from Maidaiah's family members who have not appeared for any exams. Later, we found out that Maidaiah spoke to Naik 11 times in the first week of March and during the subsequent probe it came to light that Janardhan had appeared for the AE (civil) exam," said a SIT official.
Naik who personally knew Maidaiah contacted him with an offer to sell the AE (civil) exam paper for 6 lakh. Maidaiah bargained for 2 lakh and finally transferred 1.95 lakh. On March 4 morning, Janardhan was called to Naik's house in Mahbubnagar and he was trained in answering the questions till evening. The next day, he appeared for the exam. With the latest arrests, SIT has arrested 19 of the 20 accused in the question paper leak case.
The absconding accused, Prashant, brother-in-law of TSPSC network administrator, Atla Rajasekhar Reddy, is working in a mining unit in New Zealand.
A lookout circular is being issued against him.
