Man booked for not surrendering two pistols
Nagpur: A ‘social worker’ from Ramdaspeth, booked in a case of cheating in the past, has been booked for not surrendering his two pistols despite his license being cancelled by CP Amitesh Kumar in February. The Sitabuldi police had repeatedly reminded him to surrender the weapons, and finally registered offences under the Arms Act.
The man used to flaunt that he was a police department ‘representative’, who handled their land records and such issues. He also used to show letters issued to him by different officials to prove his credibility, but his actions and reputation had led to people distancing themselves from him.
Sources said the man wanted to get an all India license, instead of one issued in 2016 which is limited to only Maharashtra. Though his license was valid till 2025, Kumar cancelled the license in view of the cheating offence registered against him. Senior inspector Atul Sabnis of Sitabuldi police station said the man used to claim he had already submitted his weapons to some authorities or dealers, but could not produce any receipt for the same. tnn
