Karampuang Island’s tourism appeal to be boosted

Akmal Malik, theActing Governor of West Sulawesi requested the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI)for working in unisonfor upholding the tourism charm of Karampuang Island inMamuju District.

Maliksaid that the West Sulawesi government will work together withIndonesian National Armed Forcesfor making improvements in the tourist spots in Karampuang Island.

Malik said that based on the local government’s evaluation, tourism in Karampuang Island, situated a kilometer away from Mamuju, is still to realize the expectations with regard to marine tourism, for which expansion is essential.

He said that Karampuang Island has no marine tourism yet; hence, they will work together with TNI for creating a beach tourism entity by constructingamenities like beach volley areas and villasalong with mangrove trips.

For that purpose, both parties will begin by organizingpublic open spaces for boosting the tourism attraction.


Malik said that they will carry onnumerous tourism projects by fashioning local art tours.He is poised that the determinations to growKarampuang Island’s tourism will compare to the revitalization of sea transport, predominantly in Mamuju that would help in attracting more tourists.

Furthermore, expansion efforts will enhance the local community’s financesby means ofempoweringthe Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
