A 14-year-old boy, who complained of chest pain while playing cricket in the city’s Wanawadi area and later fell unconscious, died on Thursday morning, said police. The boy is believed to have suffered cardiac failure.
The boy, Vedant Shivaji Dhamangaonkar, a Class VIII student, was living in Vikasnagar in Wanawadi.
The incident took place around 11am on Thursday when Vedant was playing cricket with his friends. Senior inspector and in-charge of Wanawadi police station Bhausaheb Pathare said, “The boy started complaining of chest pain while playing cricket. His parents were called. On the way to the hospital, he fell unconscious and could not be revived.”
“We have registered a case of sudden death. Based on the primary findings in the autopsy report, doctors have said that the cause of death was cardiac failure,” said Pathare.
The boy is survived by his parents and two siblings.
