Gold worth Rs 60 lakh seized from knee braces of passenger at Chennai airport

CHENNAI: Customs officers seized 1.12 kg of gold hidden in the layers of knee braces of a passenger at Chennai airport on Thursday.
The passenger, who arrived from Dubai, was intercepted based on specific inputs. The officers searched him and asked him to remove the knee braces he was wearing. The braces were cut open and gold was found stuck between the layers in paste form.
The paste yielded 1.12 kg of gold worth Rs 60 lakh. It was seized under the Customs Act. The passenger was arrested and released on bail.
