No nomination paper filed for mayor seat

Kanpur: No one has so far filed nomination papers for the post of mayor, though 28 sets of nomination forms for the post have been sold in four days. On Thursday, 33 candidates filed their nomination papers with the returning officers to contest for the post of corporators . In four days, 69 candidates have filed nomination papers, the last date being April 24.
In nagar panchayat Shivrajpur and Bilhour, four and six independant candidates, respectively, have filed nominations for chairmanship. The election commission declared the expenditure limits of contesting candidates. As per the notification, Rs 40 lakh has been fixed for the post of mayor, Rs 3 lakh for the corporator post candidates, Rs 9 lakh for those contesting for nagar palika chairman post and Rs 2 lakh for aspiring members. For nagar panchayat chairman it is Rs 2.5 lakh and for membership contest the limit is s Rs 50,000. tnn
