BENGALURU: A Bengaluru woman, who had booked an air ticket for Mumbai to Bengaluru on a well-known online travel portal, was shocked to realise upon reaching the airline's check-in counter that her ticket had 'vanished into thin air' without even a trace of the Passenger Name Record (PNR).
The bizarre situation triggered by a technical glitch on the travel portal forced the woman to book another ticket at a steeper price.
RT Nagar resident Megha had recently flown to Mumbai to attend a family event. For the return leg of her journey, the 30-year-old had booked a ticket on Akasa Air flight Q through travel portal Cleartrip.
On reaching Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Wednesday morning, the woman was told by the ground staff of Akasa Air at the check-in counter that the ticket for which she had spent Rs 2,911 did not even exist.
"She didn't expect anything like this after having booked a confirmed ticket on Cleartrip, for which a Trip ID number had also been generated. After Akasa staff expressed their helplessness, Megha contacted Cleartrip customer care, who told her that there was a glitch in the system and that she must rebook," recalled Manjunath, the passenger's husband.
Megha was forced into booking another ticket on the same flight, which cost her Rs 3,799. "Since the second ticket was booked barely hours before the flight's departure, the cost had gone up and she had to book another ticket for no fault for hers," her husband lamented.
