Travel Lane County grabs Governor’s Tourism Award

On 2023’s first evening of the Conference on Tourism of Oregon Governor, Kotek presented the Tourism Award of the Oregon Governor to Travel Lane County for arranging the World Athletics Championships. It was hosted in July 2022.

Travel Lane County was one of two recipients in this award ceremony.

The Travel Lane County President, Kari Westlund, acknowledged the award and said that the board and staff members of Travel Lane County are excited to receive the Tourism Award of Oregon Governor on behalf of Lane County, Eugene- Springfield, and the whole of the State of Oregon.

An event of this magnitude requires the partnership of many. Travel Oregon, the State of Oregon, University of Oregon, World Athletics, City of Eugene, Chambers of Commerce, the host sites of the local community team, and many more organizations worked jointly to make this event of international standard memorable. They are modest and honored to be recognized.

The Oregon Governor’s Tourism Award shows the conclusion of the appreciation of the industry for the long-time commitment, achievement and services by individuals who have improved the Oregon visitor experience and enhanced the tourism industry.
