Rajasthan: Sachin Pilot calls tea vendor's suicide ‘painful’, seeks justice for the family
Sachin Pilot meets victim's family.
JAIPUR: Four days after a tea vendor committed suicide in the Walled City, Congress leader Sachin Pilot met the victim’s family on Thursday and called the incident ‘painful’. The former deputy chief minister called for ‘visible’ justice to the family without delay.
“I met the father, brother and other family members of the tea vendor who committed suicide and it is painful that such an incident has happened. When someone dies, everyone feels sad and here a poor man from a tribal community committed suicide after a lot of pain. This whole incident must be investigated in a fair and time bound manner without any pressure on the police. All statements from the case must be examined properly, and the family should get justice, this will instil their faith in the system and the government,” said Pilot after meeting the victim’s family.
On the question of cabinet minister Mahesh Joshi’s name being involved and the family demanding his resignation, Pilot said, “Every person has their own responsibility on what they should or should no do, I am no one to say anything on this. I just want that the victim’s family, be it from any caste, religion, or financial status, they must get justice and it is our responsibility as a community to ensure that.”
When pointed out that the family members have said they feel an atmosphere of fear, Pilot said, "The family is speaking, so there must be pressure. I do not understand why the delay is happening? There are proofs coming up. If the action is seen, then it will generate confidence in them.”
Pilot also spoke to BJP leader Kirodi Lal Meena during his visit, who has been protesting with the family members since past four days at Chandi Ki Taksal.
After Pilot left, Meena said it was good that a senior leader of the Congress party met the family members.
He said Pilot has spoken to media about things that Ramprasad Meena's family had been saying.
He further said that the Meena community will collect a sum of Rs 50 lakh and will give it to the family members.
On Thursday, several political leaders like MLA Harish Meena, former mayor Jyoti Khandelwal, BJP MP Ramcharan Bohra, BSP state president Bhagwan Singh Baba, AAP state president Naveen Paliwal and BJP SC Morcha president Jitendra Meena also met the victim’s family.
