Anthony booked for carrying fake Aadhaar, PAN

Vadodara: The crime branch has booked notorious criminal Anil alias Anthony Gangwani for carrying fake Aadhaar and PAN cards. Cops recovered these fake documents from the sharpshooter who was recently arrested in the city.
The accused had fled from Chhota Udepur police’s custody in May last year. “When we rearrested Anthony, we found an Aadhaar and a PAN card baring the name of Sunny Singhania from his belongings. Investigations revealed that he got these bogus identity cards made when he was on the run,” crime branch officials said.
The fake cards had Anthony’s photo but with a Mumbai address. He told the police that he got the bogus ID cards made seven months ago from a man identified as Sonu Bishnoi in Udaipur.
“Anthony used the bogus ID cards for travelling and also bought a mobile phone. We are investigating if he used these documents for any other purpose. Also, we will track down Sonu Bishnoi who gave Anthony these ID cards,” the police added.
A resident of Warasia, Anthony is a sharpshooter and has a dozen cases of loot, firing, extortion and prohibition registered against him in the city.
He is also one of the key accused in gangster Mukesh Harjani’s murder. Anthony was a member of Harjani’s gang but turned against him later. He plotted Harjani’s murder and even brought in two shooters for committing the crime in 2016.
Anthony was paraded in the city by the police in 2017 for removing his fear among the citizens. The Chhota Udepur police had arrested Anthony in a fake currency racket last year. He was brought to the city for medical examination in May last year but the police escort team took him to a hotel in a private car to meet his family.
Anthony was allowed to meet his wife and sister in the hotel room while the cops waited in the next room. He escaped from the room following which a complaint was filed against him at Sayajigunj police station.
