Nepali Mother's day: Devotees gather at Mata Tirtha pond, offer prayers in memory of their bereaved mother

On the occasion of Nepali Mothers’ Day Mata Tirtha Aunsi, a large number of devotees thronged the sacred pond of ‘Mata Tirtha’ on April 20 to pay homage to the departed souls. The ‘Mata Tirtha’ Pond lies in the middle of hills on the outskirts of Nepal’s capital. Mata Tirtha Aunsi is a festival for mothers as it is the Nepali Mother’s Day, which falls on the Nepali first month Baisakh (April/May).
