    NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Thursday.

    Shares of Tech Mahindra(up 0.78 per cent), Wipro(up 0.57 per cent) and Tata Consultancy(up 0.49 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

    On the other hand, Coforge(down 2.27 per cent), L&T Technology(down 2.2 per cent), MPhasis(down 1.46 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd(down 0.99 per cent) and Infosys(down 0.71 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

    The Nifty IT index closed 0.19 per cent down at 26637.15.

    Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 5.7 points at 17624.45, while the BSE Sensex stood up 64.55 points at 59632.35.

    Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 ended in the green, while 24 closed in the red.

    Shares of YES Bank, IDFC First Bank, Rail Vikas Nigam, Lemon Tree Hotels and SBI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

    Shares of TECIL Chemicals & Hydro Power Ltd., Royal Orchid, Kirloskar Elec, Shera Energy Ltd. and SML Isuzu hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while IL&FS Invest, Optiemus Infra, BEML Land Assets, Genesys Intnl and VELS Film Internatio hit their fresh 52-week lows.
