ReutersShares of Bandhan Bank(up 1.63 per cent), State Bank of India(up 0.83 per cent), IndusInd Bank(up 0.52 per cent), Federal Bank(up 0.46 per cent) and HDFC Bank(up 0.37 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Axis Bank(down 0.53 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.05 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.27 per cent up at 42269.5.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 5.7 points at 17624.45, while the BSE Sensex stood up 64.55 points at 59632.35.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 0 ended in the green, while 0 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, IDFC First Bank, Rail Vikas Nigam, Lemon Tree Hotels and SBI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of TECIL Chemicals & Hydro Power Ltd., Royal Orchid, Kirloskar Elec, Shera Energy Ltd. and SML Isuzu hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while IL&FS Invest, Optiemus Infra, BEML Land Assets, Genesys Intnl and VELS Film Internatio hit their fresh 52-week lows.
