Doc strike against RTH was irrelevant: Gehlot
Jaipur: CM Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday again termed the doctors’ strike against the Right to Health (RTH) Bill as ‘unnecessary’. Gehlot said if doctors had protested by just wearing black bands, the matter could have been resolved within a week through dialogue. He asserted that now the Centre and other states will also have to bring the RTH Act.
“The strike continued for 17 days unnecessarily, which could have ended in 7 days by just wearing black bands. Only dialogue was to be established to remove the miscommunication,” he said, while adding that the finally the matter resolved after talks, which was good.
Terming the strike as not good for patients, Gehlot said, “Doctors are revered as God. God also gets angry with their followers, but it does not mean they leave them on their fate. Such strikes cannot be done.”
Gehlot was speaking at Rajasthan International Centre where 1,763 doctors joined government duties.
Emphasising that health and education are the two sectors which help in development of state as it produces healthy human resources, Gehlot said the state has become a model state in the health sector. The CM said 7% of the state budget was being spent on medical and health. Besides, 90% people of state have health insurance, which is the highest in country, he added.
